How do you capture a fleeting moment – and make it unforgettable? In the Leica Akademie Austria Workshop, Raphael Mittendorfer, photographer and longtime visual companion of Flavourama, introduces participants to the world of dance photography. He shares his experience of how to read movement, anticipate it, and capture it at just the right moment.
With dancers on site as models, it doesn’t stay theoretical – participants put their newly gained knowledge straight into practice and get the chance to try out their skills during the Preselection.

Following Flavourama Voices, DJ Brooklyn Terry, a first-generation House dancer from New York, takes over the decks at Rock house. Fittingly, an excerpt from No Dancing Allowed will be screened – an upcoming documentary by Earthbound Studio about New York‘s Cabaret Law, which criminali zed dancing in club spaces, and how Black social dance cultures like Lindy Hop and House thrived despite it. Then the party be gins: 20 years of Verein Potpourri, the driving force behind Flavourama. With international guests and artists from around the world al ready gathered in Salzburg for the festival‘s opening, the night becomes a shared toast to two decades of community, culture, and passion for Hip Hop and House Dance. A night for everyone who is part of this move ment – or ready to join it.

Flavourama Academy is a new educational platform for learning, professional development and artistic exchange – led by Farah Deen and Olivia Mitterhuemer, co-founders of Potpourri Dance and co-artistic directors of Flavourama.
Since 2006, they have been shaping the dance scene: as dancers, choreographers and curators who have brought street and club dance into a wide variety of spaces and contexts – and built one of Europe’s leading Hip Hop and House Dance festivals along the way.
In this two-hour workshop, Farah and Olivia share their knowledge and experience around one central question: What does it take to build a dance event and run it sustainably? An honest look at twenty years of festival work – from idea to execution, from community-building to the realities of running a cultural organisation.

LOOP
Four House dancers enter a loop. They walk, accelerate, dance. As the energy builds and a driving House set unfolds, four bodies find a shared rhythm.
The loop depends on everyone. Attention. Precision. Constant responsiveness to one another. It continuously reshapes itself. Constellations shift, forms, lines and axes transform.
Drawing on the collective practice of House Dance, its movement vocabulary and geometric forms such as the diamond, hexagon and octagon, LOOP develops a choreographic structure that can only exist through moving together.

Dancers and musicians transform the Muse um der Moderne Salzburg into a performati ve stage – spontaneous pop-ups meet visual art. Inspired by the current exhibition BASE LITZ JETZT, which centres Georg Baselitz‘s late work and engages with themes of age, physicality, and transience, an immersive journey through dance, music, and exhibition unfolds. The works invite a translation of these ques tions into movement – while also opening space for critical reflection on representati on and whose voices are made visible within institutional spaces.
The international artists were selected through an open call and bring their diverse perspectives into the dialogue between mo vement and space.
