Kids (8–13 years) and Teens (14–18 years) will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of renowned, international judges.
This event is free of charge, and we warmly invite everyone to come and cheer for the next generation of dance talent!

Improvisation Through the Compositional Mind

A musical mindset helps us understand the world within us. Through concepts such as the nature of tempo, the rhythm of gesture and body, and the role of a compositional mind, we can enrich our practice of improvisation in relation to dance and music. Revisiting tools from tradition allows us to expand our vocabulary and refine the way we approach creation.
The Catalan, Austria-based pianist, composer, and improviser Jordina Millà explores free improvised music and contemporary musical language. With a deep classical background, her music is in constant development, moving toward other logics of expression. She has released several acclaimed albums, including Males Herbes (solo album), When Forests Dream (two pianos with Agustí Fernández), String Fables (duo with Barry Guy), and Live in Munich (ECM Records). She is the founder of PRISMA, an initiative that aims to make the discipline of improvisation more visible in the city of Salzburg.

Activate-Cities for Non-Obstacle Movement

The workshop Activate-Cities for Non-Obstacle Movement proposes a way of building a dramaturgical scenario that explores mechanisms which, instead of entering into confrontation, seek to understand the logics already present in space. Connected to the Activate Cities project — both an album and an artistic research — we will focus on the relation between music, movement, and the perception of the environment.
We will explore mechanisms of flow, collaborative dynamics, and how obstacles can become opportunities to create new pathways. The workshop will also address the interplay between individual and collective processes, and how crossings, problems, and their resolutions leave an imprint on improvisation — a bodily and collective memory inscribed in movement.

Museum der Moderne Salzburg

This year, for the first time, Flavourama Performatory moves into the Museum der Moderne Salzburg, transforming the museum into a vibrant stage. Selected dancers from the street and club scene will engage in spontaneous performances throughout the museum, creating a dynamic dialogue between movement, music, and the exhibited art.
As the audience embarks on a guided tour through the exhibition, they will encounter unexpected pop-up performances, experiencing dance and visual art in a new, immersive way. The museum becomes a performative playground—where styles merge, boundaries dissolve, and artistic exchange unfolds in real time.

A co-event of Flavourama and Museum der Moderne Salzburg.

Tickets for the Performatory can be reserved online in advance. With your reservation, you will receive your valid ticket at the museum’s ticket counter on site (payment is made there).

This year, the ‘Voices’ evening will become an interactive event focused on allowing the audience to become a part of the discussion. Every voice is valid – no qualifications needed.
This will be an open-floor event, with conversation, debate, and honesty at the forefront.
The theme of this event will be ‘Judgement’.
Not from a technical, sports-based perspective, but from a personal perspective.
How we judge art, each other, and ourselves – and how society does too.

We will start the evening with the audience responding to some polarizing statements that the host will prepare – giving everyone a chance to voice their responses, and to hear others’ voices too. Following this, we will have a guest appearance from some special guests of Flavourama – who will themselves take part in a game which requires them to be open, honest, transparent, and consider both their ego and humility equally!
Finally, the evening will wrap up with a group discussion – allowing us to speak openly as a group about the things we feel, with prompts and questions to respond to.

The evening will be curated and hosted, but we ask that all audience members enter with the willingness to contribute & share their voices, as well as be open to listen to and receive all opinions in a constructive and kind manner.

The event will be filmed and recorded by The Capsule.

Don’t miss the chance to spend some quality time dancing in the studio on Saturday during the day! The annual workshops with international judges offer the perfect opportunity for participants of all backgrounds and levels to move, learn, and be inspired.

Classes in a variety of styles—including House, Hip Hop, Afro Dance, and more—promise to leave you sweaty, motivated, and full of new ideas!

Laura Nala: Freestyle & Nuance: Playing with Energies

This workshop focuses on freestyle development through the exploration of energy shifts, textures, and contrasts. We’ll dive into the art of playing with intensity – moving from softness to explosiveness, from flow to sharpness – in order to bring nuance and depth to your freestyle. Through guided improvisations, technique drills, and creative exercises, dancers will be invited to expand their movement vocabulary, refine their musicality, and unlock new dimensions in their personal style.

Mavinga: House – Footwork & Timing in the Music

This dynamic house dance class focuses on footwork techniques across varied timings and rhythms. Rather than letting the music dictate your movements, you’ll develop the skills to control and manipulate the beat. By applying these timing principles, you’ll transform from following the music to commanding it, creating a powerful sense of musicality.

Majid: Hip Hop Freestyle Technics

In this workshop, Majid shares fundamental techniques, concepts, and tools to expand your freestyle and strengthen your personal expression.

Frankie J.: House – Movement Layering & Composition

An exploration of the power of intention in movement. This workshop dives into the importance of setting clear intentions, committing fully to movement choices, and understanding how these decisions shape the message behind the movement. Led by Frankie J, a highly experienced artist and educator known for his deep understanding of movement quality and storytelling, participants will gain insight into how layering and compositional tools can elevate their performance and creative voice. Frankie will share knowledge from his years of practice, offering guidance on how to make movement speak with clarity, depth, and purpose.

Develop your freestyle skills with a focus on bounce techniques, body waves, and fluid hip hop moves with Loose Joint from New York City — one of the pioneers of Hip Hop dance.

Miyu: House – Variations of Basics

We’ll start by focusing on fundamental house steps, then explore how to add your own creative ideas and evolve them into unique expressions. It’s all about growth, groove, and having fun – let’s enjoy the journey together!

Dancers who want to qualify for the Flavourama World Finals on Saturday can do so by joining the Preselection on Friday evening in the categories House (1 vs. 1) and Hip Hop (2 vs. 2).

This is your chance to showcase your skills in front of a panel of renowned judges. At the end of the Preselection, the top 16 dancers (House) or Top 14 teams (Hip Hop) will be selected to move on to the final battles happening the next day.
After the Preselection, the night is far from over – join us for a jam! From 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM, the dance floor is open for freestyle sessions, good vibes, and pure energy. Let’s dance, vibe, and celebrate together!

You’re right – a collective energy release that makes the dance floor burn!  At Jazzit club, visitors and dancers bring to life what Flavourama stands for: an exchange through music and dance. This year, for the first time, there will be two floors – a House floor featuring DJs M.Dusa from Portugal and Giles Smith from England, and a Hip Hop & R’n’B Floor with Kamehameharin from Vienna and JUST-A-KID from Germany.
