Voices
06.09.2024 - Museum der Moderne Salzburg
In a world where dance is not only a form of expression but also a tool for social change, we ask: How can we create and maintain safe(r) spaces within our dance community?
Flavourama Voices invites you to join an in-depth panel discussion featuring dancers, choreographers, educators, and advocates from different generations and backgrounds as they share their perspectives and experiences. The focus of this discussion will be on decolonizing dance spaces as a key to creating more safety in our community.
We will explore the concept of safety from various angles and discuss the artistic contributions that can help build safer environments within the dance world. Additionally, we will address who within our diverse dance community needs protection and why.
A central theme will be the examination of existing power structures in the broader dance world – and how we either work to change them or sometimes inadvertently reinforce them. We will also discuss the challenges we face in creating a safer environment for all generations, and the role language plays in this process.
Together, we will consider what those in positions of power can do to foster and support positive change.
Let’s discuss and learn together – see you at Flavourama Voices!
With the code word “Flavourama,” visitors of Flavourama Voices and the Next Generation Battle can use the Mönchsberg elevator for free.
