Flavourama Performatory is an improvised performance evening with a focus on the spontaneous exchange between (live) music and dance. In response to current discourses and the noticeably growing demand from various festivals and choreographers to showcase styles like Hip Hop, House Dance, or Breaking in a stage context, different artists will be selected to open new creative spaces together. 

To test the codes of the respective dance and music styles – which were predominantly shaped by marginalized groups in the USA in the early 80s – in a new context, the selected artists will join the two public workshops in Lighting and Dramaturgy. 

Afterwards, the artists are grouped into three interdisciplinary teams of dancers and musicians/DJs, tasked with creating three improvised short pieces within just a few hours, drawing from their newly gained insights of the workshops alongside their own artistic visions. No limits are set on the performative playground and we are curious to see the outcome of this year’s Flavourama Performatory!

Artist Talk

The performances will be followed by an artist talk, giving space for reflection of what happened on stage, asking questions to the artists and discussing how Street and Club culture can exist in theatre spaces. 

Get Together

To give space for processing, reflecting and exchanging thoughts, local DJs will provide tunes for a relaxed atmosphere, closing off the evening at ARGEkultur.
